Thoughts I already have:

Shinichi was still interested in detective work at the start, until his father's murder had a path-altering effect on him and he instead took up the persona of the thief from his father's novel, The Night Baron

Yusaku is dead fr there is no Toichi-faking-it nonsense going on

He was killed for something written in his one of his manuscripts? maybe? unpublished/ only one copy work that was stolen? Shinichi steals documents mainly instead of jewels? Ends up uncovering a lot of corruption in the city that way?? Workshop idea idk yet

Yukiko is alive still?? Missing maybe

Like the Night Baron in the book, he will kill if he feels he has to, and therefore has less of a positive reputation than Kaito Kid (still has a fan club though, of course)

Unlike Kaito who had a real-life figure to follow and model himself after, Shinichi only has what his father wrote, and therefore has to come up with and improvise several things about his persona on his own (main weapons, changing + designing his mask, signature, etc)

The pen-knife is in reference to Yusaku's writer profession, and also a spin on "the pen is mightier than the sword"

He has other tools I just haven't worked those out yet

Doesn't always write in codes but tries to incorporate them into his heists somehow

Kaito isn't entirely a detective he just wants to be a magician but somehow just happens to keep solving crimes (not sure who's shrinking in this AU if either of them)

My 30th anniversary merchs reach home >< I finally have Night Baron on my shelf (even if it’s just a cover).

I also love the vol 1 keychain so much Shinichi is so smol. I was planning to use it for my sticky notes but looking at it it’s so precious I kinda don’t want to use it that regularly.

Detective Conan chapter 49 : A NIGHT BARON CHAPTER !!!

I know the female villain has such a strong start, the characters come and pretend to be Conan's mother then tells him that she knows he is Shinichi and that she knows everything his parents and then pull a gun on his head. Amazing, 10/10 start.

But I really LOVE the Night Baron design. Truly iconic. Simple yet so effective. Since I saw him on the TV, I was hooked.

And a confession : it was my first cosplay.

I know this fandom is a lot about Kaitou Kid, very understandable, but my phantom thief is the Night Baron. I don't want to wear white and a monocle, I want an evil laughing mask and a dark cape.

I will try to find interesting things to say but every Night Baron chapter will be a special moment for me.
