Marines went in under the light of flares to begin "Operation Midnight," the first night time Hel-Borne Assault in Combat. Troops from 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, teamed up with Marine Helicopter Squadron 361 to conduct the operation in a valley near DaNang. 20 H-34 Aircrafts were used in the operation.
