Day three of night weening... Kovi slept through the night! He woke up (much more calmly than usual) around 7 this morning. Ah... I feel good.
Day two of night weening went smashingly. Kovi woke up once, Corey changed his diaper and he went back to sleep until 7:15! Woohoo! I didn't even wake up when he woke up in the middle of the night. Corey said he was surprised since I normally wake up and Frankie even barked when he woke up.
Last night was the first night of night weening Kovi. Went... ok. Corey agreed to wake up with him last night and tonight since he's off on the weekends. Kovi woke up around 2:45 and Corey was able to get him back to sleep at around 3:45. As soon as Corey got back into bed Kovi woke up. Corey tried bringing him into our bed, but as soon as he saw me he wanted to nurse. I didn't give in and after 10 minutes of him screaming and trying to lift my shirt, I told Corey to change his diaper and take him back to his room. After the diaper change he was still screaming and then, as Corey told me, he put his head on Corey's shoulder. Corey asked if he wanted to go back to bed and Kovi said, "Yeah". Then he went back to sleep until 7:15.
Tonight when he inevitably wakes up, I told Corey to change his diaper first. Maybe he just really does not like any moisture on him at all.
I think this weekend I'm going to night ween Kovi. I am not looking forward to this, but ugh... I can't handle this not sleeping. He has never slept through the night, but these past three weeks have been terrible. He used to wake up 1-2 times per night. Nurse for 15 minutes, then go back to sleep. Lately though, when I try to unlatch him he wakes up completely and will not go back to sleep unless I nurse him more. He's using me as a pacifier now and while I'm fine with that during the day, I need my sleep at night. So, Friday night, I'll nurse him before bed and then he won't get nursed again until the sun comes up. Wish me luck and strength!
