Mel was just about to settle in for the night in her newly acquired bed. Alone. Her and Jason had split last week. Something about not being able to give her the life she deserved. She thought he was just being melodramatic but she hadn't heard from him since then.
Just as she was about to pull the covers over herself she heard a crash from the warehouse outside her office abode. She stepped out in her lounge shorts and tank top, her feet covered by her fuzzy black slippers.
"Edgar?" She called out for her stray cat friend, assuming he was the one causing a racket, "You okay buddy?"
It was pitch black among the old defunct warehouse equipment but she could see something rustling about.

"Fuckin- I'm sorry, I'm sorry, please don't bite me-!" Roy whispered frantically to the cat trying he'd just spooked. "Here, look, have some jerky! Cats love meat, right?" He dug around in his pockets for the jerky he always carried with him in case his teammates needed a little pick-me-up mid fight. Jason raided his stash pretty damn often.
When he finally noticed Mel stood in the doorway, he froze, looking at her like a deer caught in headlights. "Uh.. Hi. Sorry. Didn't mean to, uh, crash in."
