Sunny knocked on the door to Basil's house, it was hard for him to just walk back to his mom's car and ask her to return home. He was half-convinced that Basil wouldn't want to see him, but he had to stay strong. After all, it wasn't like he could visit his other friends, especially given how they had reacted to the truth. He'd prefer to give them a while to process things before trying to get in contact. "Hello? Is Basil home?" He'd ask once he had knocked, patiently waiting for an answer.
Basil had been devastated by the truth coming out. A weight had been lifted, finally freeing himself from that terrible terrible secret. Though it came at a cost he wasn't sure how to handle, even if he was forgiven who's to say they'd still want to be friends. He trusted them, understood it was their choice to make. But it didn't make things any easier. He was free and completely at a loss.
It didn't take long for Basil to answer the door himself. Hearing Sunny call out like that wasn't something he was used to.
"Oh, hey Sunny...it's good to see you." His voice wavered, nervous but genuine.
"Are you recovering well? I-I really can't apologize enough, for everything." Basil had already packaged an apology with nearly every breath since the accident. Thin fingers picked anxiously at his bandages as he stopped himself from rambling further.
"S-Sorry. You came for a reason didn't you? What's going on?"

Slowly drinking from the warm cup Basil was immediately awash with a sense of serene nostalgia.
The tea’s base flavor was sweet, simple, and light yet offered a unique “toasted” taste that filled Basil’s aching heart with ease.
Yet what caught Basil's attention were the added flavors that danced so perfectly with the tea. Focusing on the cinnamon the tea tasted rich reminding him of Christmas coco while focusing on the honey, the tea was soothing to his throat like warm soup on a rainy day.
Alas it seems it was not meant to last. After what felt like a simple introductory sip Basil found his cup suddenly empty. Worryingly, both the tea's soothing warmth and even the pleasant taste were washed away all too quickly. The suddenness of his drink's disappearance left Basil feeling uneasy and hollow.

"It's my fault, isn't it? If I hadn't told you to do that, if I hadn't made you cover everything up, then none of this would've happened. Maybe we would've been able to move on, to deal with it in the moment."
"I wish every day that you'd let me in, that I could at least try to ease what you're going through, but should I even be the one to do it..?"
"I hope we're still friends..."

"Ghastly, a kid who hasn't been eating carrots. Your skin is as grey as my dead allowance. Where's your parents anyways? They didn't dump you on the side of the road?"

white space. a familiar scene of comfort and, as of late, despair. sunny was not expecting to be pulled back here so soon. he steadies himself with a breath, then pushes himself up into a sitting position. his chest blossoms with anxiety at the sight of his monochromatic counterpart. sunny’s hands curl slightly as he stands.
he can’t tell precisely what omori wants yet, but if it’s a berating of some kind, best to get it over with.
he gives a quiet but audible whisper—words always flowed better in his mind. “what do you want?”
