Well, Riallan is having a tough morning. Giant nightmare spiders, glowing and painful hand, ass-deep in demons, and a giant hole in the sky. At least the dwarf is funny. And that elf guy's kinda cute.
i managed to start and finish Here Lies the Abyss in one go, on nightmare difficulty! i really thought i’d have to start the final fight again and again, but i killed the nightmare at my first try! i’m very happy with myself :)
okay so far my dragon age inquisition nightmare playthrough is okay... but now i’m almost at the part that is the hardest for me. i guess it won’t be as okay then!
The one bright spot out of all this week is that so far I’ve managed to kill 8/10 of the dragons on my nightmare playthrough.
And shit, I never wiped one time last night when I took out Hivernal, Vinsomer, and Sandy Howler. All thanks to this page, basically. Knowing the dragon’s elemental weaknesses and bringing party members/ appropriate weapons makes all the difference in these fights.

Knight enchanter is pretty much the overall best but THE most satisfying ability in the game is shield bash imo which honestly is enough to endear me to sword+shield. Also the grappling hook+that very satisfying kick to face is A+
I was playing around as Cassandra a bit more last night after I posted this, and it was actually kind of fun. I think sword and board is a more fun spec than the 2h tank thing I tried with Maxwell... but you are so right about that grappling hook ability, especially improved.
There are some abilities that I give every member of that class. Mages/Rogues get their respective threat reducing abilities. All mages get barrier and Fade Step. All rogues get stealth and knockout powder... those abilities up your survivability SO MUCH--I can’t imagine playing without them.
All Warriors get Challenge and War Cry, but... meh. LIke I said, I still can’t get 2h tanking to work as well as I’d like.
But Cassandra’s tanking is amazing. I was fighting giants in the Emerald Graves last night.... and it’s impossible not to aggro those big boar thingies apparently. (Well, especially when Cassandra just flat out taunts them... wtf bruh?). But anyway, the mobs just kept adding one after another, but so long as Cassandra could manage to get off a War Cry, she could keep all the mobs glued to her. And her life bar just didn’t move! It’s easy to keep your guard up with that may mobs, so she was always at maximum and she’s got lots of guardy-talents and gear and stuff. She’s simply amazing as a tank. Makes me think if I’d have gone sword and board for my warrior playthrough, I’d have liked it a lot more (the only reason I didn’t was because I was romancing Cassandra and wanted her to be in the party all the time).
Welp time to reclass to an archer for my rogue. Playing as daggers was fun but this nightmare playthrough on dragon age is actually a nightmare as a melee character.
Just beat DAI on nightmare mode, yay!!! Earned myself the platinum trophy :3
