i constantly struggle with the expectations of how i should present androgyny through the lens of white tenderqueers vs the fact that no matter what i will always carry an inherent androgynousness from being black and intersex vs having body image disorders that make me want to adhere as closely as i can to a very specific idea of androgyny vs me being aware that i’m being mentally ill and should get help

i love alphys to DEATH but i fully believe half the undertale fandom has no idea how stutters work. like stutters and halted speech patterns have PATTERNS they’re structured! it’s a very interesting linguistics rabbithole. anyway i’m virtually shaking your hand on this one i don’t know if people online understand how speech impediments and stuff like that works. if my stutter worked like how people online think stutters work my throat would kill me legit i think.

EXACTLY OH MY GOD??? it’s honestly a really interesting topic—there’s a ton to learn about language and speech from it, especially from a neuroscientific perspective! it makes me wish people looked this stuff up

there are so many variations and patterns; in particular, i think a lot of people seem to miss the fact that severity often fluctuates? i think you should have at least a vague grasp on how it works if you’re writing a character that stutters—in addition to being more accurate, it also just reads a lot better.

i don’t have a big problem with stammering and such myself, but i’m almost always tripping on words... speaking with me is kind of just a horrible experience thanks to adhd constantly making my mind move a mile a minute. even i don’t know what i’m saying 99% of the time </3

i’m glad i got away from twitter when i did it genuinely hurts my heart what that website does to people. watching people & artists i used to respect become unrecognizable, worse versions of themselves by falling too deep into manufactured discourses and falling for whatever the soul-crushing sidebar ragebait of the day is. the site itself designed to reward controversy and feed on ppl’s fears not unlike your average local conservative news station. a bunch of angry & terrified animals in a cage snapping at each other, etc :(
