Hangsaman, Shirley Jackson
they dont make romances like this anymore
you think you’re the most fucked up most terrible and loneliest girl in the world and then here comes shirley jackson writing a 200 page novel about the exact feeling
the way i love to explain Shirley Jackson's writing is always like, everything in the novel always feels like if you walked into a room and everything was slightly to the left.
Every single time you go. this seems fine? but there's a sinking feeling. By the end you realize it's way more fucked up then you ever considered.
it's spring, you're old, you're heinous, you've no right to be happy
there’s a fucking shirley jackson we have always lived in the castle adaptation with sebastian stan in it??

it is so annoying being so self aware about all my issues like okay what now girl
people have no movie etiquette anymore if you don’t see a new release 0.2 seconds after it comes out in the theater every single major clip is gonna be all over your page. recorded in cinema with zero spoiler warnings
You ever think about how by committing yourself so strongly to evil that you are in fact holding yourself to a moral code? And that by constantly sticking to your principles and code of ethics your actually walking your own moral high ground?
no and don’t try to advance my understanding of ethics via self-reflection ever again
preventing me from killing myself by imagining my favorite characters killing themselves instead
