charlotte moore & luna selene belmont: moodboard !
( @nightsfell )
How quick is your character to trust someone else?
slow like molasses. charlotte has never been a trusting person, and she was even less so during her first few years of camp. with a place full of people who were half - god, there was a one - hundred percent guarantee that not all of them would be trust - worthy ; that much she’s always felt in her gut. ( she does her best to stay optimistic, but optimism isn’t always realistic. ) she’s always been much more calculated and cautious than the average ares kid, more hesitant to reveal any negative emotion or suspicion about someone unless it was crucial.
prior to the wars, charlotte looked up to silena beauregard especially, preferring the daughter of aphrodite over clarisse as an older sister figure. silena was much more kind and patient than clarisse where charlotte was concerned, and she valued that. charlotte was entirely unsuspecting of silena being kronos’s spy and was devastated when it was revealed. upon her death, she honored her with the rest of camp.
after the wars, charlotte still holds people at an arm’s length. she’s cordial and warm and kind, but she doesn’t let people in. her fatal flaw is lack of emotional vulnerability ; she thinks everyone she trusts enough to truly let in will either leave, decide she isn’t worth it, or break her heart.
the only person to be immediately immune to charlotte’s cautiousness was bex. their arrivals to camp were close together in date, and they quickly gravitated together like magnets. there was something in bex’s eyes that allowed charlotte to trust her --- to this day she can’t put her finger on it.
that being said, once someone earn’s charlotte’s trust, she’s willing to do nearly anything for them. she’s willing to die for almost anyone at camp to keep them safe, but she’s willing to live for anyone she trusts and loves.

she knows its ridiculous to sleep with blankets --- it’s the middle of summer, for christ’s sake --- but charlotte keeps them on anyway. they’re tucked in tight when no one sleeps beside her ; tight and warm and safe. ( safe. charlotte isn’t sure whether she’s trying to keep others safe or keep herself safe. both, she hopes. regardless, hands are always centimeters away from the blade beneath her pillow. ) but the sheets never stay tucked in, not when she thrashes and thrashes and thrashes. she’s learned to be quiet over the years, careful not to wake her siblings. clarisse hated being woken the most, pointing an accusatory finger as if her younger sister’s night - terrors were an burden instead of a handicap. her mom calls it a parasomnia. she said the term was like the whole charlotte package ; sleep walking, talking, screaming, fighting. she had wandered around the apartment complex when visiting, walked straight into the lake at camp, and impaled the cabin wall with her knife before admitting there might be a problem. so the sheets are pulled taut when charlotte gets in bed at night. and yet, they don’t seem to stop her. she feels a prick beneath her feet and blue eyes jolt open at the slight pain, waking to hiss ‘ shit, ’ only to find herself outside the hecate cabin. / @nightsfell !
‘ i wondered if that’s what they felt , just numb and nothing and alone . ’
it isn’t a reply charlotte expects to hear, said so openly and with such honesty and brutal candor. a thought all too similar has wandered in and out her own mind at its leisure too many times to count. too many lives were lost in the last handful of years or so, and while charlotte has mourned, she did it in her own, silent, stoic way. never had she voiced thoughts out - loud, not to bex, or luna, or her siblings, or her family. never.
and hearing someone else voice them startles her, just a bit, just a smidge. ( more than a bit, and it shows, but it’s luna, and she doesn’t want her to worry, so the blonde does her best to wipe the expression away as quickly and as naturally as possible, despite the sinking in her stomach. sinking, and sinking, and sinking. )
“ i hope not, ” she manages, in a voice so steady it causes a fleeting crease in brow. “ they died like warriors. they were mourned like heroes. i’d like to think they knew the value of their sacrifice, and what it would mean … to the rest of us. ” i hope that makes them feel less lonely.

“ did you have fun ? ” voice is breathy ; she had to job to catch up to luna. armor is lopsided, hair is falling out of the braid she had tucked it in, and sword is still in hand from capture the flag. “ i mean, i know we lost, but y’don’t need to win to have fun, right ? ” no, she definitely doesn’t sound like a daughter of ares. “ you got some really good hits in there ! ” / @nightsfell !

Angela wasn’t a huge fan of Catch the Flag games, but that night she decided to play anyways, considering it was the first game of the summer. Too busy taking off her helmet while waking away from the woods, she didn’t notice the tall girl in front of her until they bumped into each other. “Sorry.” Angela said, offering the woman a smile, before realizing she was from the other team. “You are from Hecate’s cabin, right? Good game!” She said, extending her hand for her to shake it.
