NightSwapping, la 1ª comunidad de trueque de noches entre particulares, acaba de cerrar su segunda ronda de inversión de 2M€ con la participación de Family Offices Français, 6ème Sens y el grupo financiero DUVAL (dirigido por su fundador Eric Duval y su hija, Pauline Duval) y también con la colaboración de varios Business Angels y el apoyo financiero de la BPI (Banque Publique d’Invesssement).

Hi, my name is Julio, we only have one life to live, so, we better enjoy the ride because one day when you don’t expect it, it will finish. I reviewed NightSwapping a new peer to peer travelling site for Tribe of Nomad and got a free night in central London out of it too.
What is NightSwapping?
NightSwapping is a new website designed, as the name suggests to swap free nights between local people all over the world. With a very straightforward yet unique concept, NightSwapping allows the exchange of nights as a currency through the means of hosting. Hosting a Night Swapper allows you to gain nights that you can use all over the world within the NightSwapping community.However if you are travelling student like me and are unable to host yourself you can also buy nights for a more authentic stay at your destination.
NightSwapping can be argued to be a product of the economic crisis. With its ethos rooted in the ‘shared-economy’ that we see today (from online market places to car sharing) it was only a matter of time before we saw this idea ventured into the travel industry. With the site being set up at the right time and place, a little over a year ago; it now has more than 110,000 NightSwappers across 160 countries and as the idea grows it is expanding rapidly.
It is redefining how we think about accommodation and travel. It is challenging thepreconception that you have to pay for accommodation whilst being away from home and is instead going back to the age-old concept of basic trading and sharing.We are seeing a shift away from the isolation that hotels and package holidays offer and a movement towards a more community based and self-aware travel movement. People want more from their holidays than just sun kissed skin. Compared to its peers such as Airbnb, CouchSurfing and Home Exchange, NightSwapping offers something so much more. Instead of simply swapping a commodity such as money for somewhere to sleep, a NightSwap gives people the ability to have an insight to a life of a local. It’s for people who want more than just a holiday; it’s for the smart traveller who wishes to learn and immerse him or herself into the culture of where they are.
For my NightSwap I thought I’d take on one of the most expensive cities in the world and used my NightSwap in London. Like myself and many others, the desire to travel and stay in London had faded with its extortionate housing prices and borderline inhumane cost of living, but thanks to shared economy sites such as NightSwapping, this has just become an obstacle we can all overcome. By cutting out the hierarchy of accommodation prices that account for 66% of a vacationers budget, the world can become an equal playing field. A person from Mumbai can swap with a person from New York who is doing his NightSwap in Dubai.
With an idea this bold and light on the pocket I have no doubt that the years to follow will see NightSwapping go from strength to strength. Despite its current and arguably only flaw being the lack of NightSwappers and the range of cities within the available countries and some countries itself, I’m still confident that with its growth over time it will become one, if not the biggest peer-to-peer travelling site in the world.
