Kaloli (2020), Source of Denial (2023), Nihiloxica
Nihiloxica’s two full-length records so far are essentials for any adventurous rock, pop, electronic fan, for those seeking to de-centralise, de-stabilise, reconfigure. Works that swirl, bluster and overwhelm without regard for convention or genre, gloriously unrestrained. Source of Denial is, in particular, the group’s most direct, impactful, well-rounded and thrilling effort yet.
Pick(s): ‘Black Kaveera’, ‘Source of Denial’
Nihiloxica (2017), Biiri (2019), Nihiloxica
Nihiloxica’s attempts to de-Westernise industrial and noise rock were always going to be fascinating – but the project’s first couple of EPs were a little rough around the edges. These laid out a blueprint, a premise, though didn’t go further, not executing the pitch as well as on later records.
Pick(s): ‘Endongo’, ‘Diggi Dagga’
