That guy is a national treasure, not just because he listens without judgment to everything Kagiura tells him, but also because he genuinely cares about his friend's happiness, offering advice and support. And it might or might not be more than a feel of friendship for Kagiura, but he sincerely cares about him anyway.
I can never forget the button scene, when he gives Hirano the sewing kit to fix Kagiura's button, saying: "Hey, 'HIRANO-SAN' [...] you can borrow my sewing set, so fix his button." That "HIRANO-SAN" in quotation marks and the embarrassed, annoyed face, of someone thinking 'So this is the stupid sempai who always confuses Kagiura? I can't believe him, why he is so close? Good grief, this scene is so awkward... GO GET A ROOM YOU TWO DAMMIT!'
