National Airmax Day
National Airmax Day is celebrated ever since 2014 - on the March 26th. National Airmax Day dates back to March 26th of 1987, when the very first Nike Airmax show was released: the Airmax III.
As the shoe rose astronomically in popularity, breaking the mould from sportswear into the mainstream, ready-to-wear, Nike rereleased the Nike Airmax III as the famous Airmax 90, a classic silhouette that consumers have come to know and love worldwide. National Airmax Day was officially coined in the year 2014, as the shoes popularity and Nike’ success continues over the decades.
Spring / Summer 2025 celebrates the 35 year anniversary of the Airmax 90, released in 1990, which is still available and widely popular today.
This is a key moment in fashion history and I would love to base my window displays for Nike around this historic fashion event for the upcoming S/S 25.
Nike Window Displays S/S 2012
In line with the 2012 Summer Olympics held in London, Nike and luxury department store Selfridges collaborated to create a series of window displays promoting Nike’ new line of footwear and sportswear.
These window displays, to me, are simple yet effective, with high tech equipment and lighting used to create a sleek and cohesive window which falls perfectly inline with Nike’ brand identity - even 13 years later Nike still maintains this standard of futuristic minimalism in their campaigns and products.
Nike windows however can be seen as boring to a customer or passerby; although impressive, these window displays are far less every catching and enthralling compared to the window displays on other highstreets that I have documented on my blog so far. These window displays feature minimal colours and advertisements, allowing the technology and innovation of Nike & Selfridges’ window displays to really do the talking. These displays also do not feature much loud branding or product advertisement.
Just do it. !
I don't wanna check bitches tell em wear their Nikes
