i cannot understate how much i loved psycholonials. for just. so many reasons. i love when stories reward you for paying attention and understanding their themes. when Z explicitly referred to the sword of damocles at the end i screamed because even though it obviously made so much sense because that IS in large part what its about i couldnt shake the feeling until that moment that maybe i was just like. out of the loop and projecting the stuff *i* know about onto it.

i think the stuff it has to say about power and sensationalism and the relationship between the author, audience, and fiction is . really REALLY good and extremely potent. even if i still cant exactly put my feelings about it into words in a way that is coherent or makes me sound smart yet. i think the stuff it has to say about gender and related social systems was REALLY EXTREMELY good . it obviously wasnt the main focus but i found it genuinely compelling and it contributes to the whole EXTREMELY well. not to drag up old shit again but . holy fuck does hussie have some genuinely great and interesting things to say about gender. iykwim.

hussie remains a MASTER of her craft and reading this only justified that belief further. i know im like genetically predisposed to deeply enjoying all this but . fuck she just hit every fucking beat man!!! the character writing was fucking amazing. no notes. the music was also stellar clark powell knocks it out of the fucking park once again. the fucking flare remix scared the SHIT out of me though god that was so cool. the epilogue(i guess? i dont know what else to call it) almost had me in tears. i knew finishing the game that there was going to be . some kinda twist in trying to redo the ending but. good lord. that was extremely well done. hi zhen i love you zhen.

speaking of . surely im not. off base when it comes to reading zhen as transfem right? this feels extremely textual and i am kinda glad it was never explicitly addressed but like. im not crazy here right? zhen is transfem.

i dont know. it was just. extremely fucking good. another fucking hussie banger. i really truly hope this isnt the last we see of her . i would love to read more non-homestuck stuff from her because it is PLAINLY obvious that shes still got it. go read psycholonials. its free on steam. especially if you like homestuck you owe it to yourself to go give it a shot.
