Nikolina Appreciation Week 2022 ♛ [Day 7: Endgame]
“You could stay with me,” he said quietly. He gave the bottle another turn. “I still need a Queen.”
I rose from my chair and nudged his booted feet aside, settling on the little stool to look up at him.
“I’m not the Sun Summoner anymore, Nikolai. I’m not even Alina Starkov.”
A sheepish smile curled his mouth, “You could start anew. With me.” He added, “I’m somewhat of well-versed in that. I’d let you know all my secrets.”
I chuckled, “Secrets? All of them?”
Nikolai’s sheepish smile turned playful, “Well, not all of them. Some might need to be earned through different routes.”
I rolled my eyes and took out the Lantsov emerald, “Are you sure, Nikolai?” I asked, watching the way the fire caught in the precious gem. I held my breath when I heard him shift.
He tipped my chin up with his finger and gave me a shy, tender smile, “With you? Always.”
I couldn’t help but smile, “All right, I suppose I’m curious about this thing.”
He cupped my cheek and whispered, “Time for another adventure, sunshine.”
Nikolina Appreciation Week 2022 ♛ Day 1: Free Day - Role Reversal AU “It’s not too late,” she said. “You could stay. You could come back with me to the Grand Palace.” “And do what?” “Teach, help me rebuild the Second Army, rusticate by the lake?” This was what Tolya had been alluding to. She’d hoped I might return to Os Alta. It hurt to even think about. I shook my head. “I’m not Grisha, and I’m certainly not a noble. I don’t belong at court.” “You could stay with me,” she said quietly. She gave the bottle another turn. “I still need a King.” I rose from my chair and nudged her booted feet aside, settling on the little stool to look up at her. “I’m not the Sun Summoner anymore, Alina. I’m not even Nikolai Starkov.”

“The border?”
“We’re heading into Fjerda.”
“Oh, good. Enemy territory. And here I was starting to relax.”
“These are my skies,” Nikolai said with a wink. Then he strolled across the deck, whistling a familiar, off-key tune.
I’d missed him. The way he talked. The way he attacked a problem. The way he brought hope with him wherever he went. For the first time in months, I felt the knot in my chest ease.

Nikolina Appreciation Week 2022 ♛ Day 4: Fairy tale AU - Tangled “Who else knows my location, Nikolai Lantsov?” “All right, Blondie.” “Alina.” “Here's the thing. I was in a situation, gallivanting through the forest. I can across your tower and...Ho, ho no, where is my satchel?” “I've hidden it, somewhere you'll never find it.”
Nikolina Appreciation Week 2022 ♛ Day 5: Favourite scene / moment “See?” he said. “If we’re not dead in a month, we might be very happy together.” “Stop that,” I said, still grinning. “What?” “Saying the right thing.” “I’ll try to wean myself of the habit.” His smile faltered. He reached out and brushed the hair back from my face. I froze. He rested his hand in the space where the collar met the curve of my neck, and when I didn’t bolt, he slid his palm up to cup my cheek.
