Tired of the "not everything is about romance" or "platonic relationships are important too" arguments because yes, platonic relationships are important, but stop forcing people to just like platonic relationships and don't like romance.

You want platonic relationships? Then you write fics or draw fanarts of the platonic relationships you like. But if someone decides to ship two characters because they like their chemistry and want them together together, let them do it. Just because you are tired of romance doesn't mean everyone has to be. And you can't force them to be tired of it.

Sorry, I know this post is kind of popular or whatever, but it's just really mind boggling to me. "Stop forcing people to just like platonic relationships and not like romance" like okay. Who exactly is forcing anyone here? Do people with differing opinions really make you feel so pressed? Is the discussion of allocentrism actually threatening your way of living in any tangible way? People who say Alina never loved the Darkling and Nikolai make me laugh. There are literally tons of moments in the trilogy that show she's attracted to and in love with the Darkling, and that she was potentially starting to fall in love with Nikolai too, through their connection born of friendship. It was a love quadrangle, remember? She had feelings for all the guys. But the narrative literally stripped Alina of any real choice other than Mal. Specifically, by trying to make the Darkling seem too evil (it wasn't even done well), and by taking away Alina's powers. So, immortality with the Darkling was out the window, and so was the possibility of marrying Nikolai. Because let's be honest, even if Nikolai still wanted to marry Alina, it would have been far too complicated now that she was an orphan without powers and therefore worthless in the eyes of people, especially the nobility.

nikolina doesn’t work bc alina doesn’t “like” him falls flat to me considering the fact that most grishaverse ships started and/or got developed from the point of platonic friendship and/or alliance. not to mention that a lot of relationship irl also started from friendship, and also in lots of cases one party might fall earlier than the other. the fact that nikolai already falls for alina and s&s alina is horny for him should be reasons enough for people to ship them like SORRY but their chemistry and banters are just sooo buzzy lowkey highkey
