2: Did you reread anything? What?

Yes! I re-read the Space Trilogy (properly this time; I finally finished That Hideous Strength, which I never quite have before), and I finished re-reading Lord of the Rings this year. I also re-read The Violent Bear It Away, which I liked a lot more this time around, and as always, I re-read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

16: What is the most over-hyped book you read this year?

Given how the cult following of Blade Runner and the general influence of Philip K. Dick, and given that my cousin (who has very good taste in fiction and is something of a classic sci-fi buff) recommended it to me, I was expecting Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? to affect me more than it did. It just kind of underwhelmed me. I didn't even bother rating it on Goodreads. It's one of those books I'm glad to say I read it, but I didn't really like it or dislike. It was just kind of there.

19: Did you use your library?

Yep! I also got a membership with my library society, and since I work at a college campus now, my work ID doubles as Yet Another Library Card. Exciting stuff.

3. what were your top five books of the year?

in no particular order... the blue castle - l.m. montgomery the empty grave - jonathan stroud the thief - megan whalen turner howards end - e.m. forster the housekeeper and the professor - yoko ogawa i actually rated orbital by samantha harvey higher than howards end, but lemme tell ya... howards end has a lasting grip on me. what a story.

5. what genre did you read the most of?

in a surprising twist of fate, fantasy! some more fantastical than others, for sure, but i count 9 books that fall into the fantasy category.

13. what were your least favorite books of the year?

the last olympian - rick riordan (see here) a bride of convenience - jody hedlund i don't like the romance genre. idk why i keep reading from the romance genre and expecting something other than an infuriating romance. i've had it up to HERE with the 3rd act miscommunication. building thinking classrooms - peter liljedahl mr. liljedahl has some interesting ideas. he also has some terrible research practices. his data is atrocious. i've witnessed his theories in practice this semester, and i can report that it's not up to snuff. however, his biggest crime is being insufferably pretentious :)

i AM and it's fun so far!

I got into SGA because you put it in my feed actually :D and I saw Jason Momoa and went "i need that character in my rotation of fictional crushes," found out he wasn't until season 2, decided to stick it out anyway, and quickly became engaged with the rest! per some tags I wrote a little bit ago:

(is a big part of my attraction to carson his peregrin-took accent? oh for sure. but also he's a dear and has such a lovely bedside manner)

firefly is a little iffier due to inara's occasional occupation and whedon/modern tv's enjoyment of that sort of thing, but overlooking that content it's a riproaring ride and kaywinnet lee frye deserves the best of everything in the world I am only like four episodes in but watching her revel in her frothy pink dress chatting mechanics to the old geezers at a ball won my HEART. also simon and zoe being such a happily married couple is darling and the is-there-something-there tension between inara and mal is deLIcious :D

💫what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?

YOURS ARE ALL-TIME GREATS 💕 my favorite favorite kind of feedback is the kind that makes me scroll up and re-read going "really?" and seeing my own fic through the eyes of someone who didn't spend a billion hours staring at it. and any comment that starts with "this makes me think about..." creates an opportunity for a fun yes-and kind of back and forth in the comment threads. (i'm not saying this just because you're especially good at it, but you are.)

i also really appreciate the copy-a-favorite-line comments. seeing my own words in italics in a comment box makes me feel like i won a prize, i'm not sure why. like someone stuck a blue ribbon on a sentence.

You, @lumiereandcogsworth and @dangerously-human all asked about this one, and I'm going to answer all of you at once, because there honestly isn't much to tell; this one's really fighting me!

Basically, the concept is: Topher calls himself Adelle's favorite son in front of her, Dominic expects her to Not Put Up With It, and she does put up to it, leading to Dominic being Very Grumpy for awhile.

Not 100% sure if this is heading toward a reluctant bonding storyline where Topher and Dominic are forced to get along for a little while or more of an Adelle/Laurence fic that gets Angsty about him not liking the interaction. (Because the closer she lets people, the more she trusts them, the more easily they can betray her, he points out, and she tells him that's what she has him for: to not trust people for her.)

Either way, have a snippet:

what color are your socks?

i'm wearing two pairs atm - regular black socks and then fuzzy socks over them for warmth. the fuzzy socks are, unfortunately, pink with giant magenta and white polka dots 😒

favorite font?

i don't have one specific favorite... i prefer serif over non-serif, and (since what i write is 99% fanfic) i tend to write all fanfic from a given fandom in the same font. for instance: mindhunter fanfic is written in nunito, rogue one in linden hill, stargate atlantis in spectral... sometimes they don't work for some reason that i can't articulate and i have to change it. i guess if i had to pick a single font to write in, tho, i'd pick verdana, bc it's available everywhere

what's your favorite weird drink or food combo?

idk how weird this is but i usually put chips in my sub sandwiches... it's about the Cronch
