Opinions on Nimble Dick 🫵
my heart breaks for nimble dick !!! i feel like knowing ASOIAF, we share Brienne's scepticism re. nimble dick, supposing he's a somewhat benign villain but a villain nonetheless, and though we see that he's a friendly and funny sort of guy in his own way, we can't trust him any more than Bri can. we're trapped in Bri's fears and concerns, and can't see Nimble Dick for them. and then he's wiped out in the same moment that we realise he was telling the truth, and we see that he was a well-meaning guy who had already suffered plenty himself, and neither he nor Brienne have been able to enjoy the friendship they might have had if they'd not met under such circumstances. he's a guy Brienne is only able to trust in hindsight and it's so fucking sad he never got to know that trust!! and yeah idk i think there's a kind of innocence about nimble dick and Brienne both, they each feel like they're lost in a story a lot darker than the fairytale they might more naturally belong to, they both live with such fear in a world where they don't mean any harm
I really hope Dany!s first landing will be at Cracklaw point cuz then her first impression of Westeros would be people greeting the return of the Targs joyously exactly as Viserys told her they were waiting for it. Assuming Nimble Dick wasn’t capping ofc.
Brienne sheathed Oathkeeper, gathered up Dick Crabb, and carried him to the hole. His face was hard to look on. "I'm sorry that I never trusted you. I don't know how to do that anymore." — Brienne IV, aFfC
Brienne of Tarth and Nimble Dick Crabb for Friendship day :) His scenes always make me sad
So, if I understand this correctly, Nimble Dick Crabb’s reason for sending those Bloody Mummers all the way out to Crackclaw Point (other than money) was basically just to make himself laugh? What a legend
Not just himself!
“That I could not say,” the dwarf told her, “but one night some of Lord Tarly’s soldiers visited the Goose looking for him, and a few days later I heard another man boasting that he’d fooled a fool and had the gold to prove it. He was drunk, and buying ale for everyone.” (AFFC, Brienne II)
Certified legend, indeed.
"Ser Galladon was a champion of such valour that the Maiden herself lost her heart to him. She gave him an enchanted sword as a token of her love. The Just Maid, it was called. No common sword could check her, nor any shield withstand her kiss. Ser Galladon bore the Just Maid proudly, but only thrice did he unsheathe her. He would not use the Maid against a mortal man, for she was so potent as to make any fight unfair."
Brienne IV, A Feast for Crows
