41: How has your clan changed since it started?

When the Reach was founded, it was just a clan of dragons, allied with but essentially independent to the Longneck tribe with which it shared territory; essentially, the Longnecks did their thing, and the dragon clan–led solely by Adecia–acted as defenders and provided for themselves 100% so that it wasn’t, like, a protection racket. They were just friends who were willing to protect and care for each other but respected one another’s space.

The Beastclan Rebellion kicking into high gear is really what drove home how important both groups were to each other. Over the years they’d gone from friendly neighbors to…a part of one another. And as their numbers grew, and they formed connections to other Beastclan tribes, and started to develop shared values and a sense of identity…they’d been a single unified clan for a long time now, and it was time to make that more formal. That was when the Council was formally set up, and integrated chains of command established as well as a more formal clan charter.

62: Which of your dragons is most likely to tell dad jokes?

Eurion. Also Oleander, but Oleander would do it completely by accident.

76: What does your clan think about the other flights? Is worship of other deities permitted?

Worship of any form is permitted and encouraged; the Temple on our territory has respectfully-crafted shrines to each of the eleven deities as well as courtesy shrines representing the spiritual traditions of the major Beastclans, all designed with the blessing and input of the relevant spiritual leaders. While individual dragons are allowed their discomforts and alignments–Adecia and Jori freely acknowledge that the Plague flight and its goddess make them viscerally uncomfortable–the Reach as a whole honors and respects the good in each flight, and judges dragons from those flights on an individual basis. 

A Wind dragon is just as capable of small-minded cruelty, or a Plague dragon of nobility and compassion, as any other, and there’s no room for bigotry on this side of our borders.

7. Have you changed your random progen at all? How?

I’ve given Till a breed change and a few gene swaps over the years!

She and Stira (my custom) are both way overdue for a gene overhaul though, considering the last time I really scried them was the Skink/Spinner update years ago.

11. Favorite dragon of x breed?

I can’t do this for mirrors, because (according to the site status I’ve had displayed on my FR profile for the last 5 years) every mirror is the best mirror. No way I could pick just one!

And for most of the other breeds, my faves belong to other people and I’d feel awkward mentioning some but forgetting others and leaving people out and all that jazz.

So instead, I guess I’ll stick with “Roundsey is my favorite spiral”. 

13. Do you have lore? Share a little bit!

The mirror pack has always raised their hatchlings communally, which causes some amount of friction when non-mirrors are in the clan and not participating.

The non-mirrors in the clan, mostly, just find the idea of spending childcare days chasing after a pack of “abundantly energetic” mirror kids to be exhausting just to think about.
