Was editing poem tonight about Leda and the swan, as portrayed in this painting. Definitely thought at first that the poet was misspelling the Spanish word "pato" and trying to apply it to Leda's tiny duckling babies. Turns out that my Renaissance-lingo is not what it could be, however: putto is the Italian term for the small, cherub-like boys in such paintings. Thanks, language.
