Nine Patch Quilt Block Variations

I finished my bird 9-patches and they look very cute

But when I put them all together, I am Not. Feeling. It.

There are so many coloured squares that the birds are hard to see.

So now I’m thinking disappearing nine-patch. That would reduce the size of red squares and offset blue and green ones in a way that would hopefully allow the birds to stand out more.

maybe? Fingers crossed?

I’d lose 2” of the width and 2.5” of the length but I can make that up with borders, if needed.

My next Custom Order Quilt I will be making is a Nine Patch & Hearts. I will be doing random Nine Patch Blocks from various Sage & Blue Fabrics.

The next block is easy and fun.  The Nine Patch.

These are the fabrics I chose.

I cut strips 2 7/8″ w for both fabrics.  Then I cut 5 squares from the patterned fabric and 4 squares from the blue fabric.

Here are my pieces.

I laid the pieces out as follows.

You can sew them together either horizontally or vertically.
