My brain: Hear me out, just think about it. Where better to send the kid who didn't care for friendship before the show and likely doesn't think he deserves it after the show than to the world where friendship is literally magic. Depending on when it happens, he could try to go for the Elements of Harmony like he did the Paradox Prism. Imagine him having to learn about friendship or even interacting with Starlight Glimmer or Sunset Shimmer.
