I'm trying to figure twitter out and i'm struggling and twitter is making these random notifs pop up, trying to literally force my hand in accepting personnalized ads (fuck off) by making a message pop up on tl and not giving me the option to just fucking close this damn message
I know the social networks out there are built different - or at the very least, work different - but I don't think I fully realized until I went on twitter. This shit is crazy and I hate it with all my might.
Like. I had forgotten but. Your tl is not only posts that are made or reposted by people you follow ; but also, a tweet they liked, an ad, a "subject that might interest you" would you please subscribe to it, accounts similar to the ones you follow, an ad, what's trending in the world, twitter asking me things and me hitting the three dots on top of the message only to find out, that no, i can't deactivate that message, but i can "see it less often" (and in 24 hours i got that message first when i opened up the app, directly tried to get rid of it, only delayed it, and a day after literally 24 hours after saying "i wanna see this less often", they put it back at the top of my tl).
The only comparison i could make is that tumblr feels so quiet and peaceful and twitter is being in a cafeteria, full of noise, so much so that you kinda have to scream so that the people next to you can hear you. Twitter constantly requires your attention, short span attention ofc, by, not only the essence itself of a tweet (which has to be very short thus multiplying the messages on your screen), but also by constantly assailing you with ads and posts such as "we think these people/subjects might interest you" and "look at what that person you follow liked !"
And last but not least, twitter also puts forth accounts similar to the one you just followed - which i'm kinda used to on instagram - BUT when you click on the list, you see a list of names, at the very end there is a button "follow all" and you cannot click on any of the accounts to go and see if you would actually be interested. You either follow them all (like usually 7 or 8 accounts) at once without being able to check their accounts or you don't. Unless ofc, you are ready to write down the account on a piece of paper and manually search them all, one by one.
So. I think my twitter account is going to disappear soon and it's a shame because there's no other place on the internet that I can follow nsfw content in "peace" (at least twitter hasn't banned nsfw - - yet ?).
