15 Day BL Challenge
Here is the Full Challenge and can I just say that I appreciate all the love and excitement surrounding the challenge.
Day 5: Biggest Flop
Check Out the Series. Let's fucking talk about it. I publicly voiced my disappointment with Check Out the Series. I had sky high hopes for the series to be my favorite series of 2022. After such an amazing pilot episode and STELLAR teaser pics and pre-debut marketing my body was READY to be consumed by NineDaonuea and their whirlwind love affair.
I tuned in to the first 3 eps and found myself bored and even falling asleep. Like it was a total snoozefest, even with the promised extra spicy love scenes. The eps were extremely long and yet nothing seemed to happen. The plot seemed solid on paper but the execution was less than mediocre. I don't blame the actors because Chahub and Best had EXTRORDINARY chemistry and you will NEVER catch me blaming them or any of the other actors for this big flop of a series.
No, the problem is with scummy ass 9NAA. They completely botched this project. Not only did they have that issue with the streaming; jumping from YouTube to possibly OF to finally land on IQIYI. But it also seemed like they hired all new writers for this project. The series had a completely different energy than the pilot ep. Daonuea's character felt like a new person and they even squeezed Nine into this like 'DILF' role which I wasn't bothered by until I saw how forced it was.
And then I find out 9NAA was doing some shady shit behind the scenes to the actors. It was just an all around flop and I haven't watched anything else from 9NAA and probably never will.
Just know that I don't associate Check Out the Series with Check Out Ep 0. They are two separate entities.
