As someone who has recently acquired a genuinely nice landlady, I cannot overstate how much Ninette must be passively helping pre-Kingmaker Colette's mental stability. Poor girl needs it, too.

Around the time I wrote the first version of the Kingmaker pilot, Henry and I had recently moved from a truly atrocious living setup where we paid cash in hand to stay in the loft over a garage and the landlord constantly sent us passive-aggressive texts about keeping the noise down. We went from that to living in a flat owned by a perfectly lovely lady who only ever came over once to fix the boiler and stayed out of our business. So I felt compelled to give Kingmaker some chill landlady representation.
