The first rule of being a ninja is, "Do no harm." Unless you mean to do harm. Then do lots of harm.

Alice: Actually, it’s not as weird as it sounds, I think. Radcliffe’s ramblings about the East taught me that ninjas were traditionally spies. And a spy’s first job is to gather information unseen. Obviously they killed people as well, but they weren’t supposed to go on big slaughtering missions. So if you interpret this as “do no harm until you find your target. . .”
