Awwww baby Vania
I love that she plays at the foot of her father's throne, where he can keep a careful eye on her and she can spend time with him, even in the midst of his royal duties.
Since Vangelis broke with Vania in Episode 7 while the evil Skull was whispering at him... maybe he does, or at least did, actually love Vania. But the Skull's evil influence destroyed that bit of goodness still inside of him, and now he's willing to sacrifice his daughter, who he calls his heart, for power.

GET AWAY FROM HIM HE IS PRECIOUS AND SUCH A GOOD BOY.
Chompy is basically Vania's guardian angel.
He's grows to a huge dragon, ready to protect her whenever she's at risk...
But as soon as she's safe, he returns to this tiny, pesky thing. And he likes it that way. He doesn't want to be a dangerous monster, he just wants to be the animal companion to an oblivious princess and get his daily back scratches.
