You guys remember that Naruto episode where Pakkun offers to reward Shikamaru for a successful mission by letting him touch the pads on his feet? Okay well imagine a tiny sad Kakashi not wanting to go on a mission because he’s just so done with everything. But Pakkun is there and offers to let the kid touch his feet if he goes because Kakashi has always tried and never been able to. So this becomes a regular thing as Kakashi grows up, leading Pakkun to think it will work on another kid because dogs love their humans unconditionally and have no idea if they are strange or not.
