Now some people will get mad at Kakashi here for this statement. I do not because he lives in Naruto universe and in Naruto universe this is correct. Young girls in Naruto are more interested in love because they are only allowed to care about male characters.
I already talked about this but it's one of the few things that is actually good in retrospect from Naruto so. Yeah, it's cool that we see why Sasuke is able to do a jutsu that is above his level later rather than this just being a "Sasuke is cool" thing.
Sakura, do you even want to be a ninja? Maybe just do something else because having all your attention on Sasuke should have gotten you killed if this manga was at all realistic.
I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but I will stand by it: Naruto doesn't have good fights. Of course there are some I like and think are well done but on the whole I don't think it's a series anyone should read for good fights. And of my list of reasons why number one is the sheer over-explanation fights in this series have.
Does the simple move of Naruto sneaking behind Kakashi and grabbing him really need to be explained? Does Kishimoto have that little faith in the audience? Did someone tell him it needed to be explained and if so why because it doesn't. Was someone going to read this and be like "wait this makes no sense how did a clone get behind Kakashi???" and if so was it worth making this scene awkward and less interesting by explaining it? I don't think so. I also think if Kishimoto really thought people wouldn't get it instead of Naruto yelling explanations about his thought process he should instead show a small panel of one of the Narutos sneaking out of the water or something as a hint to the readers instead.
Why is Naruto the super villain in Sakura's story? We haven't even see him really do anything to her. This is either a severe case of telling and not showing or Sakura is delusional.
Also chapter three and we got ANOTHER character that reminds Naruto of himself and that's why he likes her apparently. So I guess the "Sakura thinks I'm a comically evil asshole" didn't register to him.
This entire part is extremely weird and baffling to me. Who okayed this.
Things Sasuke has done today:
Sat in class and minded his damn business
Had Naruto get in his face which ended in their lips touching because an absolute icon was sitting in front of them
Called Naruto an idiot for that but didn't even subsequently try to hurt him (unlike Sakura)
Is currently eating lunch and continuing to mind his damn business (and will shortly be attacked by Naruto)
And as usual I'm not so much saying that this plotline shouldn't have happened so much as Kishimoto has a lot of gall to write this without any reflection on Naruto whether that is the character self-reflecting or someone else pointing out that Naruto was the problem here because Naruto was 100% the problem so it's funny that apparently at the end of the chapter this was about Sakura learning a lesson.
/narrator voice/ "It is debatable whether or not Kakashi did his best."
I don't know you guys...sounds to me like it was a given Team 7 would pass the ~test~. This makes the test itself seem like a retcon because this sounds like Kakashi is for sure training them but a chapter later it's like nope test time and a chapter after that it's like Kakashi has never passed a team in his life. I'm sure Kishimoto was just doing it for drama and not thinking about it but that's the problem. Maybe just write something I don't read later and go "wait, what?". Also you can't exactly NOT pass Sasuke Uchiha. Sure it was probably also a retcon but if you didn't pass Sasuke I feel like Itachi would be rolling up on Konoha like "yo, we had a deal. I want Sasuke to kill me and I need him to get trained for that."
Thinking about how shippuden Naruto is like "oh no I couldn't possibly think anything bad about Konoha" after finding out the Village elders killed a whole ass clan because Naruto got the validation from the village he wanted and the only one Naruto truly cares about is Naruto.
