REGENT ST, BRIGHTON
by Crush Proof
Hip hop is more than just a genre of music, UK artist Niser told travel and music writer Sam Clarkes in a 2014 interview. "It is a movement, a culture . . . part of which is graffiti." Always passionate about art, one day a friend showed him his small collection of spray paint and he was hooked. Spen grew up in New York where he'd cut school to go see paintings and murals, and he's been painting for more than 25 years. Working together as Crush Proof, Spen and Niser are bringing their love of graffiti to Brighton—a city with a positiive attitude where they say the public generally embraces what's thrown at it. "The streets are the new art galleries," says Niser. Painted in 2014 on Regent St in Brighton, this wall is now gone but not before a "gallery" run of almost five years. @niser.upc/
