sallywainwrightofficial: No-one's spotted this (although there is still time) but we thought we'd tell you anyway... we've invented the first female 007, the crucial and thrilling difference is that she's a Yorkshire police woman. Our wonderful police adviser (on Happy Valley AND Riot Women) Lisa Casler pointed out that when Catherine Cawood retired and went to the Himalayas, her collar number (9675, which she would have had for thirty years) would simply go back into circulation for a new young recruit to have, so we gave it to Nisha Lal!!! A Riot Women nod to Happy Valley.

Riot Women Tattoos

Kitty's Tattoos

Kitty's tattoos are not very apparent in her first scene, we mostly see her left side, and her hair is forward on the right. In the same way we mostly see her left hand doing things.

The first visible shot is when Holly says "other hand" and Kitty holds up the knife, the star on her index finger is just about visible.

We get a view of the outlined star below her right ear in A&E when she admits to Keith Eckersley being her father.

We get a brief glimpse of the rose tattoo on her thigh when she wakes up on Holly's couch, again not the focus in the moment.

Up until this point she's had long sleeves on. But the moment Beth walks into the White Swan and sees Kitty singing on stage the barb wire tattoo around her left bicep is visible. And the cut in her lip is at its most prominent too. Beth is seeing punk.

And then she lets go of the microphone and raises her arms, making the Courtney Love 'Let It Bleed' tattoo appear really clearly.

Waking at Beth's the following morning the two tattoos on her left hand are briefly visible, plus the ones on her arms, and we get another quick partial view of the rose.

Back at the bar - her arm tattoos were very on show when they first talk, then Kitty must have thrown on a layer, but you can see her star tattoo as she's serenading Beth.

When she goes to demonstrate the song the next day we get the first clear view of the tattoos on her left hand, branch of leaves down the side, what looks like a crescent moon with dotted stars around it on the index finger, two dots on the first joint of the index finger an a single one on the pinkie.

We get multiple views of her hands the following day. I wonder if the various dots are prison or otherwise self administered tattoos?

Arguing with Gavin on Talent Quest day we can finally see all three stars below her ear.

And when the police photograph her bruises we see the rose tattoo more completely.

I wonder if she has any in places we don't see?

Beth's Tattoo

And then there's Beth's tattoo which is impossible to read. It's seven words in a flowing script - a quote, a lyric, a line of poetry? If anyone can suggest meaningful text that would fit it...

Nisha

Nisha's are most visible when she's in her short sleeved uniform in the conference room, but you can also see one when she's in hospital, and they are just visible at the festival. The camera never lingers on them, possibly because they are Taj's real tattoos, not character makeup.

The right arm is a seated woman holding the earth, the left is a bunch of wild flowers. Thanks @kitty-eckersley for the reminder!

Spongebob

Spongebob has three small lines extending his side burn, and the very large wildcat on his neck.

Jerry

Jerry has a disc on his lower arm, a skull? on his upper arm and a celtic triangle on his other arm.

Inez

Inez has portraits of two women on her right arm, vines with leaves and flowers on her arms and neck, and an old fashioned key on the inside of her arm.

And I think that's all we see. Did I miss any?

been thinking about nisha and the whole aftermath of her attack

her comment about underage groupies after their last show was super weird, gross but also seemed like it would be (should be?) out of character (not that we know that much about her), but especially following the assault

dunno and this is poorly articulated for sure, but i feel like my head canon is she deals with it all by going slightly off the rails

not sure what would make more sense, her abruptly quitting the police force and never going back from sick leave or her going back briefly and maybe spiralling once she’s back in what’s his name’s (rudy/rudchenko/not going to look it up) presence, or counter intuitively maybe it happens after he’s suspended from duty pending investigation (after she’s submitted the evidence), there’s no one way for people to process trauma after all

so let’s say she does go back to work but develops maladaptive coping habits, starts going out more, drinking more,

ends up blowing up her relationship with grace, cheats on her

and like the others notice sure but kam is the one to bring up she’s worried, maybe confides in the others that miranda had to call her one night to pick nisha up from inez’s bar, blackout drunk about to go home with some random woman (again), doesn’t know what to do

i think in this version of events kitty does get recruited to talk to her, that does happen and it does give nisha pause, makes her feel less like her skin is no longer hers, but actually it’s yvonne that gets through to her, matter of fact, unflinching, kind

and no one is more surprised than holly about that, beth oddly is the one that gets it

and i think nisha does leave the police, finally

aww i just noticed nisha fooling around with holly's borrowed bass in the background of the first practice, right before kitty and beth debut 'just like your mother' while holly was out at the car

love that she's sitting on the arm of the couch too and not the couch proper *megaphone hands* LESBIAN BEHAVIOUR

any road jess in the foreground but you can just make out the little grin on nisha's face when holly comes over like what are u doing and takes the bass off her, it's adorable
