sallywainwrightofficial: No-one's spotted this (although there is still time) but we thought we'd tell you anyway... we've invented the first female 007, the crucial and thrilling difference is that she's a Yorkshire police woman. Our wonderful police adviser (on Happy Valley AND Riot Women) Lisa Casler pointed out that when Catherine Cawood retired and went to the Himalayas, her collar number (9675, which she would have had for thirty years) would simply go back into circulation for a new young recruit to have, so we gave it to Nisha Lal!!! A Riot Women nod to Happy Valley.

been thinking about nisha and the whole aftermath of her attack

her comment about underage groupies after their last show was super weird, gross but also seemed like it would be (should be?) out of character (not that we know that much about her), but especially following the assault

dunno and this is poorly articulated for sure, but i feel like my head canon is she deals with it all by going slightly off the rails

not sure what would make more sense, her abruptly quitting the police force and never going back from sick leave or her going back briefly and maybe spiralling once she’s back in what’s his name’s (rudy/rudchenko/not going to look it up) presence, or counter intuitively maybe it happens after he’s suspended from duty pending investigation (after she’s submitted the evidence), there’s no one way for people to process trauma after all

so let’s say she does go back to work but develops maladaptive coping habits, starts going out more, drinking more,

ends up blowing up her relationship with grace, cheats on her

and like the others notice sure but kam is the one to bring up she’s worried, maybe confides in the others that miranda had to call her one night to pick nisha up from inez’s bar, blackout drunk about to go home with some random woman (again), doesn’t know what to do

i think in this version of events kitty does get recruited to talk to her, that does happen and it does give nisha pause, makes her feel less like her skin is no longer hers, but actually it’s yvonne that gets through to her, matter of fact, unflinching, kind

and no one is more surprised than holly about that, beth oddly is the one that gets it

and i think nisha does leave the police, finally

I need the fic where Nisha gets assigned Holly as her partner on her first day and spends however long it takes figuring out Holly isn't gay.

Imagine the updates to her girlfriend and sister:

aww i just noticed nisha fooling around with holly's borrowed bass in the background of the first practice, right before kitty and beth debut 'just like your mother' while holly was out at the car

any road jess in the foreground but you can just make out the little grin on nisha's face when holly comes over like what are u doing and takes the bass off her, it's adorable
