Nissim Baruch Black was born in Seattle, Washington in 1986 to a family of non-practicing Sunni Muslims.  He would convert to Christianity at the age of 14 after attending summer camp and began rapping at around the same time.  Eventually, he would grow uncomfortable with mainstream Christianity and began practicing Messianic Christianity.  He released his album Ali’yah with his Messianic Christian beliefs, but would renounce those beliefs completely six months after the release of the album with the help of the counter-Messianic Christianity organization Jews for Judaism.  

He started his conversion to Orthodox Judaism under the study of Rabbi Simon Benzaquen of Sephardic Bikur Holim Congregation and stopped his music to focus on studying Judaism.  With his conversion completed in 2012, he returned to making music.  Nissim made Aliyah to Israel in 2016, currently living with his wife and five children in Jerusalem and continues to make music.
