Nothing says upbeat and fun like Mean Jeans’ new EP Nite Vision. This Portland pop-punk trio is currently set to release their third studio album Tight New Dimension via Fat Wreck Chords this April which will include the track “Nite Vision.” If you’re unfamiliar with Mean Jeans, but not a fan of pop-punk, don’t pass them by. This is the good kind of pop-punk. Besides the band’s signature Ramones-esq sound, think of anything you would typically find in a Lookout Records catalog during the 90’s (The Queers, The Riverdales, Screeching Weasel, etc).

Nite Vision consists of the titled track and two b-sides “Now I Wanna Be Yr Dog” and “69 Tears.” This EP sounds more polished than Mean Jeans’ earlier releases, but that doesn’t mean that they’ve jumped the shark. They still maintain the same three-chord rhythm driven energy that they’re known for. “Now I Wanna to Be Yr Dog” had me a little baffled as I was expecting a rendition of The Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” but this is different. The rhythm is fast and energetic with wailing guitar melodies and some “wo ohs” added in the chorus.

The band’s latest album Tight New Dimension will be released on April 22. In the meantime, give this EP a listen and catch them on tour. Below is a list of tour dates:
