There on the clearing in contact with a cliff, overlooking the sea, everything was so much more beautiful. If nothing else, the sounds of the crashing waves and the chirping insects as one laid on the soft, swaying grass would be wonderful enough alone, yet to be able to marvel at an infinite ocean of stars canopied in the night sky struck one’s heart with amazement to fill one’s eyes with tears.
He felt himself fortunate in some ways, in such ways as how he had stumbled upon this field on complete accident, wandering around the woods of the island in a sort of lackadaisical venture. The sort of quixotic undertaking of meaningless meandering one made when everything felt just right enough to waste on, as one would do on dull summer days with no responsibility, or how a traveler took on in lands strange to them, or just spending an evening without a clue as to what should be done. A confusion, but a constructive confusion that led to discovery. In that, he found such a miracle as to simply walk out into this field possible.
He did nothing but keep his eyes set on the stars, their light and their splendor amidst a void, set in such a way that felt with purpose which one could not understand and never hope to attempt so, smiling as the moonlight and the ocean and the woods and the insects and the grass accentuated the spectacle.
“...No, you would be my first,” he said without looking down. It was more of a yearning to come here, to take someone along because the secret was just so great that he wanted to share like some blabbermouth.
Her next words were just enough to tear his eyes away from the sky and look down towards his guest with curiosity. An inquiring scowl quickly morphed into a smile.
“What a coincidence. I am a Godslayer. Caution really no longer suits me well. Kidnap me if you want to try. Use whatever powers you may have. I’ll just stay stargazing. Wouldn’t you?”
