The First Days of College

*Niv POV*

His hands in his pockets and his favourite music on way too loud, Niv walked behind his mother and little sister towards the college he had been going to for, what, two - maybe three - years. The summer holiday had ended way too soon and he hadn't truly been ready to say goodbye to his homelife yet.

Certainly not knowing he would be getting a new roommate.

'Niv?' his mother - Siri Larson - called out, having stopped walking so her oldest child could catch up. 'Are you okay, pumpkin?'

Niv shrugged, noticing his sister roll her eyes. 'M'fine,' he said, pulling off his headphones and glancing down at his mom. 'Just... A bit sad that dad an' Helene couldn't come with us.'

Siri nodded slowly, taking a deep breath as she grabbed his hand. 'O-oh, I know, honey. I'll have your dad call you when I get home, okay?'

'Okay,' Niv muttered, squeezing her hand tightly.
