Too Spooky
Foreword: I respect the decisions of conventions, and all of us should. Beats having a bad taste in everyone’s mouths and having your friends thrown out. Obey convention rules.
Whoa, wait what is he talking about?
As some of you might know, I did a piece for Halloween with Fausticorn and the Mane Six. It was also an episode captured on my YouTube channel. The idea behind “The Neighcromancer Faust” was a spooky halloween themed piece where the ponysonified Lauren Faust at the time of her creation.
Yeah, well at least that was the idea, and well, NMND and EQLA (at their last years) didn’t see eye to eye with what I had, and pretty much dissuaded me from approaching (by proxy) Lauren Faust to have them signed. The final piece was also toned down (above, left) with a more embarrassed spooky Pinkie and a really excited Twilight Sparkle.
Now, they didn’t actually say no, but there was a general air of discomfort around. Not wanting to put my friends in a spot, I obliged.
Here’s the kick and why I felt this piece was just too good. Faust was a Necromancer. Not our Faust, but one Doctor Faustus, legend of European folklore.
Nevertheless, I did hand out more than a few prints of the piece to a bunch of friends. I now seal away this piece. Hopefully, NMND and EQLA will be raised from the dead. Those were some really good Halloween season pony cons.
