even though what you’re learning in school might seem useless it’s still important.

i see so many people complaining (and i’m sometimes one of them) about how learning about something (ex- trigonometry, how to balance a chemical equation, the renaissance, etc.) is stupid and useless and that we should be learning more important things like how to do taxes and how to take out a loan.

while i totally agree that we should know how to do those things, i still think the so-called useless stuff we learn in highschool is important.

maybe at the time you hate learning about it, but later on you fall in love w the topic and it leads into your career/ hobbies. or maybe it comes in handy on trivia night, or maybe you finally stumble across a situation in which you need to use the pythagorean theorem

and finally, as far as history, i’m glad we learn this useless shit. because frankly i don’t wanna live in a world where people don’t tell the stories of our past. if we don’t hear about them, we’ll make the same mistakes. or we won’t notice what’s wrong in our society. or, at the bare minimum, we won’t know anything about our past.

yeah it sucks to write an essay on the 7 years war when that’ll definitely never pertain to your life. but i like living in a world where we have basic, high school level knowledge on the most random things just so we can understand our lives and how we got here a little more.
