Preparing for #frontiershow this week in the #nnprojectspace #projectspace #northampton #art #artist #workinghard #artist #nncontemporary (at NN Contemporary Art)
Yesterday me and a few artists from 3rd year Illustration ‘diverged’ to the NN Contemporary Gallery to create experimental works relating to our final major project...
I chose to work on two pieces as a part of my Animal Matter campaign. I created a 3D cardboard, papier mâché Hawksbill sea turtle to have at the degree show, the idea is to have it caught up in fishing nets to represent bycatch within the fishing industry. This piece is still very much in the process and will take a few more days to complete !
I pretty much worked on the sculpture all day and then I had to let it dry so I turn’t to sketching a large scale posca pen illustration of a baby Sumatra Orangutan on a piece of Fabriano. This drawing is also a work in progress so I look forward to completing the two back at home in the studio.
Overall, it was a pretty chilled day in the project space with music playing and 3other artists sewing, drawing and painting.
