I Want To Get This Off of My Chest.
AppleTV has the series Foundation, based on the Isaac Asimov trilogy. It’s apparently getting good reviews, they just announced Season Two, and they are sinking a lot of money into the production.
But I won’t be seeing it.
Oh not because I don’t have AppleTV. Well as a matter of fact I don’t, but I could get it going in about five minutes, and I have on occasion. No, it’s something deeper.
I hated the book.
Hated it. Loathed every bit of it. What’s weird is that, I loved everything else Asimov wrote. I liked his fiction. I liked his non fiction. I even enjoyed Opus 100, which was just a Clip Show. If Asimov’s name was on it, I knew it would be good. When his Foundation Trilogy came out. I grabbed the first volume as soon as I could. By the time I was halfway through though, I knew that I hated everything about it, the characters, the plot, the pacing, I even started to dislike the paper it was printed on. I kept hoping it would get better, but it never did. I’m not sure if I finished the first volume. I KNOW that I did not read any of the others. I still read Asimov’s other works, just not that one.
And I won’t be subscribing to AppleTV to see the filmed version of it.
