Sidney could hardly believe it was actually here. The day he’d waited for since he was a young boy. Dreaming a wish that could only come true in fairy tales. The ones he would watch and read about for as long as he could remember. That feeling of being caught up in a whirlwind romance the likes no one had ever seen or felt. Just the thought of Zhenya made him warm from head to toe. Sure their love wasn’t perfect, but not one relationship was. It was the journey along the way that made him realize how special their day truly was.
He flushed as he came to the closed doorway and stopped, waited for his cue to advance into the room. He was nervous, for sure. It was a big step. A finality that he’d been so sure about when the Zhenya finally proposed to him all those months ago. Not that he was having second thoughts, quite the opposite. He was nervous for it all to begin. Weddings always went so fast when he was the one on the other side. Now that he was the one waiting, he knew why the wait was so agonizing.
Sidney could hear the sounds of music playing on the opposite side of the doorway and it was almost his cue. The sound of guests rising followed the music and Sid took a deep breath. This was it, the moment of truth. Would all the planning and hours of preparation be worth it in the end? He let out the breath he held and smiled. His grip tightened on the bouquet of flowers in his hands. The only physical item that would stand between him and his love. It was now or never.
The doors opened and Sid’s world was momentarily stunned. The rows of pews were laced in white sashes along the aisle with bouquets of pastel flowers converged between them. The petals along the floor leading to the alter were the same as the bouquets that lined the aisle. The support beams that rose from floor to ceiling were decorated with white lace that spiraled around it holding twinkling jewels along the line that sparkled in the light. The alter was similarly decorated in white cloth with gold lining and tassels. The room was dimmed just enough that showcased the litany of sparkling lights on the ceiling above, made to look like the heavens above. It was a breathtaking picture from the doorway. The best, and most important, part though was standing at the end of the aisle. The man who waited a quarter of his life for him.
Sidney’s world narrowed right down to that one specific point. There was Zhenya, stunningly handsome in his tuxedo, and he looked as nervous as Sidney felt. His face was shaved smooth, hair neatly done just right to hide his balding features, the ones that Sidney was actually quite smitten with, and smartly dressed in a black tux that accentuated all of his best features. His long legs, his trim waist, and broad shoulders, were all on display for Sidney to see. The breast pocket held a handkerchief that was used specifically to bring out his chocolate brown eyes. It was a miracle Sidney was still in his spot with how much he wanted to be next to his love.
When Zhenya looked up at Sidney, all time seemed to stop in place. Sidney knew how good he looked. This was a look he and his sister worked on for weeks to perfect. He just never knew wether it would be enough to cause Zhenya to stop and stare like he was. The tux he’d chosen was a creme colored suit with a bow tie that brought out his own eyes. When their eyes locked across the room it was like everything seemed to fall and seal into place. Like it was real for the first time. The atmosphere was filled with their love, Sidney need only reach out and take what had been offered to him.
He wanted to run to that alter. Skip, jump, fly, do anything to get closer to that coveted spot next to Zhenya. To finally start the life they’d worked so hard to achieve for so long. It would only befit them to have Sid walk to the slowest damn wedding song in the history of wedding songs. It was for romance, sure. Walking slowly into the awaiting arms of the one he loved, being serenaded by words that meant so much to them both. However, that was before Sid saw everything put together and no longer cared about tradition and social norms. It was bad enough that they ignored tradition and allowed Sid to walk the aisle alone due to his superstitions.
That was if Sid ever started to walk at all. He seemed to be stuck on the beautiful, arresting image of Zhenya there in the halo of the afternoon light filtered in from the stained glass windows. He started to tear up at the sight of it all, having to wipe his eyes carefully so not to smudge his makeup that his sister insisted on. He waited until the second verse of the song started and took his first step forward.
He’d barely noticed the crowd of people as they watched him, took pictures or winked conspiratorially. He’d be embarrassed by it if he wasn’t so distracted, but it was their day and they would stand there, stare and wait the day away as long as they wanted. The walk was agonizingly slow at Sidney’s persistence. No normal man would walk this slow when his other half looks so enticing at the end of the aisle. However it was different for them. As much as Sid wanted to jump to the end, get to the good part and run away with Zhenya, they’d come this far with the pace they set. What was a few more moments between them. Besides, Sid got to watch Zhenya tear up as he gracefully, or as graceful as Sidney could get, walked down the path to him.
The music swelled at the end of his march and he made it to Zhenya safe and sound. The smile he received from Zhenya was dazzling, if a little watery around the edges. It was fine though because Sidney was feeling a little emotional himself. He took Zhenya’s offered hands and held them tight, mouthing an ‘I love you’ to him which was returned in Zhenya’s thickest accent as he wiped away his own tears.
The ceremony seemed to fly by after that. Their vows were personally made and beautifully crafted to make the other cry tears of joy. As Sidney finished his vows he took Zhenya’s wedding band and carefully slid it on his right ring finger, rubbing the spot lovingly after. Zhenya smiled at him and once he finished his own vows he took the other ring that matched Zhenya’s and slid in on Sidney’s left ring finger where it bumped his engagement ring. The pair of rings glistened in the light and made Sid smile in happiness, something he had never thought possible when he was young.
Sidney knows they probably looked a mess by the time they were done, but he was happy and with the love of his life. What more could he ask for? Oh right, the kiss at the end, that’s what. Slow, sensual and full of laughter when they broke apart. They’d finally made it. The wolf whistles and cat calls from the peanut gallery only made the moment that much better.
When the officiant announced their newly wedded title, Mr. and Mr. Crosby-Malkin, the gathered crowd of friends, family, and public media cheered in their union. Sid had barely noticed them throughout the ceremony and blushed at the thought of being so open and raw in front of them. However, one look from Zhenya reminded him that none of that mattered. All he cared for was right next to him, smiling down at him with that fond expression. He stole another kiss before they led the procession out of the church.
The reception was actually at a private pavilion about an hour away via train that would take them through the countryside. In theory the ride was supposed to be a relaxing time for drinks and chatting through the beautiful fall foliage of the mountainside before they arrived at the venue. Unfortunately for them an early and persistent frost had brought fall to a quick end in their area of the mountain range, the leaves having fallen quickly after that. It wasn’t ideal by any means, but it was too late to change venues and services so they made the best of it. If that was the worst they’d have to deal with during the best day of their lives, then so be it, Sidney didn’t mind.
The ride wasn’t all that bad though. As the late afternoon bled into evening the sky filled with clouds and, with what Sid could only describe as magic, the temperature dropped just enough for it to begin to snow. As the snowflakes drifted by, Sid had caught one with his free hand and watched as it melted in his hand. He looked to Zhenya as if to ask if it was real, but stopped to stare in wonder at the look on his face. The bright smile and child-like excitement on his face was more than enough for Sid to know it was real. The memory was captured by the photographer and it had quickly become Sidney favorite photo of them. Sidney’s wide smile looking up at Zhenya’s soft and tender face, open and raw love expressed there, as he looked down at Sidney, holding them together with with his arms as the snow fell around them.
Their first dance was just as magical as Sid hoped it would be. Zhenya pulled him close by the small of his back, Sidney resting his hand on Zhenya’s shoulder, their free hands held together on the opposite side. Neither of them were particularly good dancers, but that didn’t stop them from taking the lessons and learning at least one dance. He didn’t want to just sway side to side like all the other weddings he’d been to. It was mostly for the romance of it all, but also because he wanted to prove they could do it too.
As they danced the lights around them seemed to dim and blur as time stood still once again. Sid looked up at Zhenya who returned it with a soft smile of his own. The music’s melody lulled them into their enchanted place on the dance floor. As the music swelled at the end Zhenya picked Sid up by his waist, settled him on his hip and twirled them around in circles. If Sid yelped it was only for the guests amusement and he’d deny it later. The grin on Zhenya’s face though said he’d never forget it.
As they slowed, Sid was lowered to the floor and they started to sway side to side, just holding each other. As the song came to a close Sid looked up at Zhenya, eyes hooded and gaze longing, and didn’t need to be prompted for that. He propped himself on the balls of his feet and tenderly kissed his husband. Zhenya’s mouth was soft against his own as he was kissed back. He turned his head just slightly to allow for them to slot together. It was a kiss like none other. Despite the fact that they’d kissed hundreds of times before, this one in particular was the one he’d remember the rest of their days.
When the song ended they snapped back to reality to cheers and clinking glasses around the room. Sid blushed and chuckled having forgotten their audience, but the look of pure desire and devotion he received from Zhenya only made him burn hotter inside. As the next song started up more couples joined them on the dance floor for their share of the moment. They danced and laughed through a few more songs before they made their obligatory rounds around the hall.
The night flew by in a rush of dancing, funny and heartfelt toasts, fun games and great food. Sid could hardly imagine how time got away from them. It wasn’t until he felt a hand on his shoulder turning him toward the end of the pavilion to reveal a real horse-drawn carriage. Sid covered his face and laughed. How was this his life? Dreams apparently still came true after all. He realized belatedly that the hand on his shoulder was Zhenya’s, the warmth of it radiating through the material of his dress shirt, jacket long forgotten in the rush of dancing, to warm his skin. Sidney smiled up at him and took Zhenya’s offered hand in his own, lacing their fingers together.
The carriage ride was short, but no less significant in the night’s festivities. They whispered sweetly to one another, mostly endearing terms and memories of the past twenty-four hours. Sidney giggled as Zhenya slid his fingertips down his arm and to his hand, lacing his fingers in Sidney’s and pulling him in close. Their heated breath mixed together in the chilly evening air. Sidney didn’t have to be told what to do, it was natural as breathing to kiss his husband breathless under the cloudy night sky.
Snow started to gently fall around them again as they approached the cozy cabin nestled in the woods, far from prying eyes and nosy teammates. Zhenya slipped out of the carriage first and opened Sidney’s door for him, hand held out for him to take and step down. Sidney was escorted to the entrance after the driver of the carriage was tipped and sent on his way. The cabin wasn’t small, but it wasn’t lavish and large either. It was the perfect size for the two of them to spend some alone time together.
In traditional fashion, Zhenya bent down and lifted Sidney off his feet and into his arms. Sidney yelped and laughed as he immediately wrapped his arms around Zhenya’s neck. Zhenya kicked the door in, having already been unlocked and propped open slightly, and brought them both through the threshold of the cabin. Sidney took advantage of the opportunity and kissed Zhenya as soon as he knew they were in safe distance to a soft surface, mainly the couch.
They kissed for long moments, the longer Zhenya held him the more turned on Sidney became. Sidney slipped his hand down and held on to Zhenya’s arms supporting all of his weight and marveled at their strength. Geno adjusted Sidney so he was able to wrap his legs around Zhenya’s waist and held him up from his hips and thighs. Sidney was no fool though. He knew a ploy to grope his ass when he saw one and smirked into their kisses.
Time once again seemed to slow to a crawl as they continued to kiss there is the living room. Eventually, Zhenya gracefully lowered them onto the couch and Sidney adjusted himself to box him into the cushion, a thigh braced each of his hips. This made movement much simpler and safer for them both. Sidney took his time undressing Zhenya’s top half, sliding his hands up his torso and over his shoulders, removing the jacket he’d worn for the ride to the cabin. Next unclasping the suspenders on Zhenya’s suit pants, teasing Zhenya’s midriff with light touches with the pads of his fingertips in the process. The short, sharp inhale through Zhenya’s nose as they kissed told Sidney everything he needed to know.
It was nothing compared to the desperate whine Zhenya made as Sidney unbuttoned his shirt, one agonizingly slow button at a time. It didn’t help that Sidney stopped kissing him to trail his lips down the line of his throat and worry a red mark at the junction of his neck and shoulder. Sidney lightly brushed his lips along Zhenya’s collar bones and he just about came off the sofa, hips ground into Sidney’s own as he desperately searched for friction. Sidney chuckled some more as his hands continued to tease Zhenya’s abs and stroke the sparse hair between his navel and his pelvic line which earned him a lightly gasped ‘Sidney, please.’ Who was he to deny his husband’s needs?
Sidney’s hands were not the only parts of his body playing though. Sidney mouthed his way down Zhenya’s chest and made a slight detour to his left nipple and swiped it with the flat of his tongue. This earned him a loud groan and a hand to the back of his head. Sidney grazed the pink flesh with his teeth and felt his head tug back with a pull from Zhenya’s hand.
Sidney looked up into his husband’s eyes, hooded and filled with need, desire. Sidney flicked his tongue once more against the rising bud that was Zhenya’s nipple before he rose back to Zhenya’s mouth, crushing their lips together in a frenzied need, passion and desire won out over the gentle caresses they had started with.
Sidney quickly and discreetly removed Zhenya’s belt and undid the clasp on his pants with one hand before Zhenya had a chance to figure out what was happening. It wasn’t until he heard the zipper teeth opening his fly before he realized Sidney’s plan. He had barely ten seconds to think before all thought was lost to the pleasure of Sidney’s desire. There would be little thought to be had once Sidney was through with him.
Later they laid in bed, satiated and loose limbed, just basking in the glory of being together. They laid together, Sidney spooned into Zhenya’s chest, held together in Zhenya’s strong arms. Sidney sighed in contented pleasure, rubbing Zhenya’s forearm with his fingertips. He could feel the soft puffs of Zhenya’s breath against his neck and Zhenya’s chest rising into his back and Sidney knew he was asleep. Sidney smiled and snuggled closer into his husband’s chest, his arms wrapping Sidney’s waist tighter, even in sleep.
That night Sidney dreamed of everything that happened that day and of their future together. The home he dreamed they’d have nestled in the countryside, their children playing in the yard with the family dogs. The porch swing, hung to the one side of the porch facing south, where Zhenya and Sidney would sit and watch the sun as it rose in the east and feel the warmth of the late day sun as it set in the west. The long, lazy, rainy days they’d spend in the living room to watch rom coms and hockey games together.
It was a dream Sidney had been having forever, ever since he was a little boy, but now they featured a real person. A man who chased their kids in the lawn playing tag. A man that made a disaster of their kitchen, but the dinner came out perfect. A man who gently bathed their youngest child, newly home from the hospital, cooing at her in gentle Russian phrases that Sidney didn’t need to know what they meant to know it was nothing but pure love. This man that he’d loved for so long was the one who held him close at night and would continue to do so for the rest of their lives, however long that might have been.
In the morning light of the following day he’d awoken to chocolate brown eyes piercing into his own, a gentle smile on the face of the one he loved, and gentle caresses along his cheek. Sidney returned the smile with his own and pulled him close, lips gently coming together, eyes falling shut. It was nothing short of perfection. Although it was the first day of the rest of their lives together, Sidney couldn’t wait to get started.
Awakening (Open)
Today was most definitely not his day.
He had awoken in a very unfamiliar room, one that was definitely not in his house, which meant he had been sleeping in a stranger’s bed. He took some relief in knowing he was completely clothed, but he still didn’t like the implication that he had been kidnapped. As he looked out the window, things grew even worse. He didn’t recognize the area in the slightest. Everything was bright, sunny, cheery. There was grass everywhere and not a reploid or other robot as far as he could see. As he moved around the house, looking out the windows, he found things were the same everywhere else in the immediate area.
Something was definitely wrong.
Luckily, for a change, it seemed that whoever brought him here was gone. So he quickly took the chance to get far, far away. It didn’t take too long for him to reach a small city. Intrigued, he wandered in and began looking around. From what he could tell, the language was the same, he could understand every word being said. It didn’t help him much though. He didn’t have any money and didn’t really know if the currency would be the same anyways. In the end, he found some information in pamphlets and books from a local library.
Apparently, these ‘ruins’ were a decent source of objects called ‘refractors’ which he could sell for Zenny. With the Zenny, he could purchase food and other items. According to the book, ruins could be dangerous, but he figured he’d be fine if he could find a decent weapon. An old iron pipe seemed good enough.
Thus, he was on his way, walking through the fields as he searched for these ‘ruins’.
