I’m just saying, If we follow the morals of Book Geralt in the game, Geralt would spare Dettlaff. Regis is very much right in the regard that Dettlaff and Geralt are very much similar (its been a hot minute since I read the books). I still get mad how Regis points out that early in the game of Blood and Wine and yet it is forgotten afterwards. Geralt and Dettlaff are very much both stubborn individuals who both feel emotions on a deep level. They both seem to keep a very very small social circle and when they hold some people dear to them, they become very much attached. They also both kill, without much sympathy or mercy if it means saving those they love. Choosing to kill Dettlaff reflects on how Geralt was killed in the books. To me, they are both intellectual beings that got too emotional, hence their vulnerable state which leads to their deaths. I think after Geralt takes the Resonance potion, he becomes all the more aware of it. Geralt has already lived through it so he would want to put all his effort into helping Dettlaff not make the same mistake. Not only for Dettlaff’s sake, but for Regis’s sake also. (there is a lot more I can say but i’ll stop)
