the way id feel a million times better about myself and life if i could just afford to get my hair done regularly, or at least afford a braider every couple months… something as seemingly simple as that would lift a huge mental load off my shoulders.
#Unconventionally Situationally Attractive Black Woman Tax™️#hair#self care#it is expensive being a Black woman bc my appearance is directly correlated to how well others especially nonblack ppl treat me#and even within the Black community other Black women are so harsh and judgmental about each other’s hair#whether they natural or weaved up#and we dont get the luxury of being individuals if one Black woman looks bad or unkempt#we all get criticized for it via systemic or social punishments#ive had to be hyperaware of this since i was 2 years old#no kizzy#many Black ppl if not most of us are and the ones really not tripping compensate in other ways that still adhere to a level of featurism#blah i need to go to bed i still haven’t slept#gotta do my damn hair for my mama & auntie joint bday party later today
