Woman set ablaze on public transit... this needs to end

Saw a story today that some dude set a woman on fire on public transit in Chicago.

Arrested 71 times in Cook County (arrested more times elsewhere?) and convicted 13 times. And this guy was let out into the general population. Our legislators, judges and prosecutors collectively decided that this psychopath should be on our streets. Now some woman who just wanted to get from point A to point B is in critical condition.

You hear about these stories all the time, a career criminal constantly being caught and released, and then the story breaks when he does something truly horrifying. Some poor innocent gets stabbed in the neck or lit on fire or who knows what. And all of us in major American cities need to always be on our guard, and uneasy, while we are out in public.

The judges either need skin in the game or need to have their discretion dramatically reduced when it comes to sentencing. Or perhaps the legal penalties for being a career criminal need to be a lot harsher. Anyone remember three strikes and you're out?

Many on the left have complained about 'mass incarceration'. The problem to me seems to be insufficient incarceration. Putting the bad guys in prison works. If anyone doubts it, please review the record of Nayib Bukele. El Salvador used to be one of the most dangerous countries in the world, today it is safer almost all American states.
