My Must Haves
So I wanted to make a list of my favorite items I simply must have when trying to lead a more natural life.
1. Castile Soap. This has so many uses especially when it comes to cleaning. It is in my all purpose cleaner, body wash, laundry detergent, etc.
2. Honey. This was one of the first things I’ve tried in many recipes. It’s super moisturizing.
3. Aloe Vera. Similar to honey and also moisturizing.
4. Lavender Oil. An all around great essential oil that smells great and has many uses.
5. Vitamin E Oil. Great for preservation and great for skin/hair.
Of course it doesn’t stop with these five, but without these I just don’t know where I would be
No poo Method
So I have decided one months ago that I am not going to be using shampoos anymore. Not only are shampoos stripping and drying, a study has shown that it also causes excessive shedding. Here is an article explaining why shampoos causes hair fall

My goal is to have maximum level thickness and health and seeing that my hair is colour treated it hasn’t been in the best of health not implying that it’s damaged but I have experienced some minor breakage here and there.
So if you don’t use shampoos anymore how do you cleanse your hair and scalp kinkylicious?
Well that’s a good question , I cleanse my scalp by doing water only rinses with room temperature water and I wash it like how I would if I was using products and I do that 3x a week. If my hair and scalp is really dirty I use baking soda for my scalp and apple cider vinegar rinse for the length of my hair. I have done that combo only once in order to really clean my hair and scalp but I don’t plan on doing it often only because baking soda has a very high pH of 9 and our hair’s pH is 4 and if the baking soda is applied too often it can be very damaging to the hair. So my aim is to do it every 4-6 months.
Because my scalp is adjusting to the no poo method it gets a little itchy so to combat that I use rosemary and green tea spritz on my scalp and I massage that it in.
In my next blog post I will tell you my experience with this method thus far.

Regarding the hair post, I wanted to add:
I currently have shorter hair, but usually wear it up in a clip when it’s long enough.
I also am kinda crunchy so this all fits my M.O.
It’s been more than a month now since shampoo touched my scalp. It’s getting better. If I were to do this all over again, I would have cut my hair as short as possible before starting.
No Poo
So I started the no poo method a week ago, and man is my hair starting to look and feel so great!!
