Opinions Regarding "Romanticising" Studying
I quite dislike the need to romanticise studying- I believe this is due to people making an "aesthetic" out of studying which I do believe is shallow and I know I'm gonna get beheaded for such an opinion...just lemme speak momentarily, alright?
The view focuses upon the exterior looks of studying. A clean desk, pretty study tools and clean attire. There's nothing engaging with the literal content. Bare in mind that studying content varies universally, hence it'd be quite tough to romanticise said varying content. Furthermore, it doesn't provide acceptance of studying when one's mental health is low or when you just don't possess the time to clean and make your study space all pleasant to the eye. It tells of this need to keep things "structed" and "clean" which is so contradictory to the purpose of studying...
The purpose of studying is to involve yourself in the content. You don't need a tablet for that. All you need is yourself and the tools you have available. When studying, metaphorically you become "dirty". You're absolutely soiled by the words, numbers and connections. Literally speaking, your desk is probably consumed by chaos and this is quite alright- I mean, nobody is expecting you to study in an orderly fashion. There's just an expectation to study. That's all.
Furthermore, the aesthetics promote this "feel good" notion which I loathe. I often loathe having to sit at my desk and absorb knowledge that shall dissolve a few weeks after writing a test or exam. You're allowed to feel displeasure at studying. Just get that sh-t done.
That being conversated about, if applying an aesthetic to studying makes you motivated, go for it! It should be personalised and all yours. Yet, do recall that studying is about the studying and sometimes...it's literally you attempting to exercise your exhausted eyes to in-take whatever you can the night prior.
(Additionally, I'm stating this as someone who isn't able to go to cafes and study with friends. I just thought there are a few like me and who should know this. I just don't like the thought of being discouraged away from education because you don't have the "visuals". You, as an individual, are the face of education - hence, embody that sh-t.)
