“I’ve actually got another surprise for you,” Jack murmurs as he joins Alex upstairs a few minutes later, leaning against the doorframe as Alex tucks in their sleeping daughter.

“Oh?” Alex asks with a raised eyebrow, crossing over to Jack. Jack nods, leading Alex out of the bedroom and shutting the door behind them quietly.

“I could’ve given it to you with the rest of your gifts, but, well…” Jack responds, trailing off and deciding it better to show Alex than to explain.

“What is it?” Alex asks with a raised eyebrow.

“Follow me,” Jack instructs gently, leading Alex back into the guest room.

“Oh, it’s one of those surprises, huh?” Alex jokes. “You couldn’t have given it to me when we had sex earlier?”
