American No Places: All Island Taxi, Long Island.Behind the Mineola train station where I wait for my train back to sunny Brooklyn.Better than the Colosseum or the Spanish Steps.America is mostly a collection of entirely disposable non-places, places that don't really exist and that are really nowhere (and no time) at all. That's the main reason why I moved there decades ago. So that I can be a permanent tourist of no places.Photo by ME.

I would say this place is one of the many quiet and peaceful spots within the UWA campus. As much as I enjoy hanging out with others, there’s also a greater part of me that enjoys a peaceful afternoon. Most of my classes are allocated in the business school. I often enjoy a bit of quietness and recap on what I’ve just learned that day right after my classes. Walking through this green place right outside of the business school is one way of getting that freshness and calmness I’m looking for. Sometimes I would put on my earplugs, listen to some songs when I feel like doing some thinking. It’s easy to get immersed in this environment. My reason for choosing this spot is therefore, obvious.
"If there were water And no rock If there were rock And also water And water A spring A pool among the rock If there were the sound of water only Not the cicada And dry grass singing But sound of water over a rock Where the hermit-thrush sings in the pine trees Drip drop drip drop drop drop drop But there is no water Who is the third who walks always beside you? When I count, there are only you and I together But when I look ahead up the white road There is always another one walking beside you Gliding wrapt in a brown mantle, hooded I do not know whether a man or a woman - But who is that on the other side of you?”
T.S. Elliot, The Waste Land
I can think of nothing heavier than an airplane / no greater conglomerate of steel and metal / nothing less likely to fly
Saul Williams, quoted by Sha Hwang: I love airports, love flying.
