“Dad said I w-was in charge this w-weekend r-remember” Noah pointed out to his slightly older brother as he came into the living room in his baggy pyjamas with his breakfast bowl, bed head making his hair messy. “That m-means I get to pick the S-saturday morning TV channel” he placed the food on the table and plopped onto the sofa next to Jeremy, holding his hand out expectantly to take the remote.

The blonde wavy haired Noah was not entirely sure how he had ended up in this position, and he certainly did not understand why there was something that felt kind of right about it all. But here he was bent over the other man’s lap and locked in place there, jeans around his ankles and shirt pushed halfway up his back. His cartoon dinosaur pattern briefs the only thing keeping his peachy pale butt cheeks hidden, though he was fairly certain they would be joining his jeans soon enough. He swallowed thickly and looked back through his glasses, over his shoulder at the man and nodded nervously, he was ready, ready for what was to come.

There was nothing here that could possibly go wrong, Noah was sure of it. Alright, he was mostly sure of it. Or rather, he was entirely aware that he was staring in the face of another facet of the dumpster fire of his life, but the alcohol numbed the worst of it. Enough to let him pick up the phone, and push down old hurt and longing as he scrolled back through texts he always meant to delete. Sending the first text to Dheer had been impulsive - and then he had just - kept texting. Part of him wasn’t even expecting the other to show up  - until the door to his apartment opened, and Noahs head jerked up, a brief expression of delight crossing his face until he managed to tamp it down, standing from the couch. “You know, I half expected you to turn around before you got here.” // @lxcidwaters​

Falling asleep on the library table is hardly his finest moment, but Noah’s been skating close to the edge recently, running on far too much coffee and not enough sleep as he tries to force his life into the shape he desired. He couldn’t exactly recall how that lead to spending his night awake as he talked to a graduate student in tokyo about the implications of his new battery design thesis, but he was almost certain it related somehow. It would come to him eventually. Probably. Once he woke up, that was, because at the moment he was mostly drifting, somewhere between completely asleep and actually awake, only dimly aware of the edge of the table digging into one of his ribs - until a hand clutched his shoulder. At that, Noah flew upright, blinking rapidly. “I’m awake! I’m awake, w need resolution seven nin-” He pasued for a moment, staring at the stack of books opposite him, before groaning, pinching the bridge of his nose briefly. “What time is it?”

he could have made it easier on her, boxed up all her things himself and left them in a neat pile by the door. she could have swept in and be gone in a matter of minutes, along with every last trace of her that remained in his apartment. which was precisely why noah hadn’t done so. a twisted, sadistic part of him that wanted to prolong this interaction so that she wouldn’t disappear so suddenly. even if it only bought him a handful of minutes more with her. seeing yasmine wasn’t even entirely pleasant. her face was an instant reminder that brought back the ache of their break up and allowed the flooding sadness back in. yet that was still preferable to the idea that after today, she’d be out of his life for good. he has no doubts that yasmine had already begun to move on- of course she had. she was the one who had been moving forward this entire time while he held her back. she was probably flourishing without him, a thought that made noah’s stomach twist in torment.

he watches her from the couch, pretending to be distracted by something on his phone as she moves around the apartment, tossing things into a cardboard box. his eyes flicker towards her every few seconds, hating the way her dancer’s form can make the simple act of walking look so graceful. “nearly done?” voice curt, maybe unnecessarily so, to cover up any hint of longing or regret that might sneak in.
