amantes sunt amentes | damon & noah
A part of him still felt guilty about the fact that he didn’t allow Ana to save Mona when he found her being ambushed by the king’s knights. Now she was out looking for ways to save her sister while Damon was expected to stay in-doors and out of sight. He understood why it was necessary. If he ran into the wrong person unaccompanied, or ran into the knights who were on the look out for him, he probably wouldn’t stand a chance given his inexperience in fighting. He didn’t even possess a weapon, mainly because he had forgotten the dagger Ana left him back at Gideon’s place. He wasn’t used to needing a dagger so when he snuck out of Gideon’s home while both he and Ana were away, the dagger was the last thing on his mind. His first matter of business was to help Ana find a way to save Mona-- even if she preferred that he stay safe and out of trouble-- and the first person he thought of was Noah.
It was madness, and maybe deep down Damon knew it, but he didn’t really care. A year ago, he would have never gotten so involved in a conflict that had nothing to do with him, but he did it because he knew how much Mona meant to Ana, and to lose her after already losing her father would have devestated her. Dressed in garbs and hidden under an old cloak, he took to the streets, first seeking the forester in the brothels since he knew Noah worked there sometimes and he knew the brothels were relatively safer for him to venture since Antonia ran the place and sometimes harbored Gideon’s thieves there. When he didn’t find him there, Damon went for the slightly more dangerous alternative and headed to the forester’s home, knowing it was located in the royal forest, but when was he going to get another chance like this to speak to him? And how much time did he and Ana really have before Mona was finally disposed of? There was no time for him to rationalize anything and so he didn’t.
He managed to reach Noah’s home without much trouble aside from the fact that Noah wasn’t home when he got there. He hadn’t knocked on the door, he didn’t want to risk the chance of having Elysa open it instead, so he walked to the window outside Noah’s room, peeping through a small gap in his shutters and saw that the room was empty. He did the same outside Elysa’s window and noticed she was sleeping. Quietly, he slipped inside Noah’s home through the back, not wanting to wake his sister, but also not wanting to wait outside and risk being seen by anyone, but when Noah finally arrived home, Damon hadn’t noticed right away being as he unintentional drifted off to sleep in a chair in the corner of the room while he waited.
