Leon was storming around like a madman, scaring every demon in the castle. Mateus seemed to have disappeared off the world entirely. Not with them, but not in Heaven of Hell, either. Just gone entirely, leaving the afterlife in a grip of anarchy and the Imperial forces demoralized.
All but the despot’s right hand, however. No, he wouldn’t let Mateus just vanish.
In a way, he had good reasons to be celebrating this. He finally had the throne again, especially in a time when the demons needed a new leader. None of them would question the Dark Knight’s authority, not when their master trusted him. He could continue on the legacy, take over the world, maybe even existence.
Yet after everything was considered, he couldn’t bring himself to do that. He loved Mateus. He needed him as much as the demons did, and after losing so much, he refused to lose the last person alive who cared for him.
After a long while of no leads, a clue popped up. A meeting with the kidnapper himself to discuss. Leon knew better. The man had to be powerful to subdue the Emperor himself, and the discussion wouldn’t be for ransom terms. But when had that ever stopped him. He was the Dark Knight, for gods’ sake! He took what he wanted by force!
Sitting on the throne (it was still a very nice seat to pass up on), his gaze became a burning glare as they settled on his lover’s supposed captor, his voice filled with venom.
“State your business before I cut it out of you.”
